Roles within R&D
The R&D function is divided into four key areas:
- Science
- Technology
- Product development
- Quality and food safety
Ideal candidate profile
Tertiary qualifications are key when applying for a role in Mars R&D. Preference is for degrees in food science disciplines.
Inherent within R&D is the need to work in many different ways on widely differing projects in different technical specialities. Despite these differing ways of working there are some common behavioral and technical skills essential to a successful R&D associate.
- Curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit. Scouring the external world for perspective and new network members should be normal behavior
- Empathy. Brand and cuisine is essential to creating winning products that delight our consumers and deliver long-term business value
- Effective communication skills. Understanding consumer insights and translating these into strong, competitive products
